The Unrecognized Hero
Yesterday after school it was just another day. The only difference was me and my sister had to go turn in her application at Subway. I was kind of hungry so I wanted some snacks me and my sister walked to big lots we where gonna keep going straight to cross at the light but something made me want to go by Stowell and cross at the crossing point to get to Thornburg where we would get picked up. As we walked by JC Penny I turned to my right and I saw a man sitting in his white Mercedes-Benz he was wearing a WW2 Veteran Cap. I stopped told my sister to wait for me she wondered what I was up to. I went up to the drivers side where he was sitting down reading a book, I said hi he looked up and smiled and said hello. I asked him if he was a veteran he said yes I was a sergeant. I smiled and shook his hand and said,"Thanks for your service I appreciate it." He looked at me and I don't know if it was the sun that gave his eyes look watery he smiled and said thanks for your recognition. It seemed like maybe not that many people have said that to him so if you ever run into a veteran specially a war veteran you should take the time to thank them don't let them go as a unrecognized hero.
