A rose growing out of Concrete

The Rose That Grew Through Concrete
" If you was walking on the street and on the concrete saw a rose growing out of concrete even if it had messed up pedals and it was a little bit to the side you would marvel at just seeing a rose grow through concrete. So why is it that when you see some ghetto kid grow out of all the dirtiest circumstances and he can talk and he could sit  a cross you and make you smile make you cry make you laugh all you can do is talk about my dirty rose my dirty stem and how I am leaning crooked to the side you can't even see I came up out of that shit." -Tupac

Lets analyze this quote shall we ? First lets see the background , Tupac was a rapper an ideal to many. He grew up in the ghetto he understands what challenges some of us have faced. When he tried to change and make the world a better place he was criticized and judged harshly for his past. Many teachers have done that to some of us they know our past mistakes but won't bother seeing what we have done to change. I know people who have changed after certain things in life after losing friends to drive bys. When the world will only see you as a screw up and nothing more than that is all we will be. He talks about a rose that grows through the concrete and compares it to people who have grown out of their own struggles but people won't talk about their victories but rather their wounds and the battles they lost. Tupac was an activist he understood that some times people get judged by the mistakes they did by their past actions not bothering to see how they are struggling to be a better person to change the world. The real thing we should judge is not people's past but their struggle to improve.

Why give on the holidays

Why Give on the Holiday Season
Its November 22 we have 6 days till Thanksgiving while many of us are excited of what our families will do for the Thanksgiving all the meals they are preparing many aren't so fortunate. Many times people will judge and talk bad on people with federal aid and people who ask for money not understanding what sometimes people go through. I grew up in the Santa Maria Valley where most families are low income families who just manage to pull through and be lucky to be able to afford food. My dad always taught me to be human to those people because someday you might just be in there position. I have witness my dad hand money and I have too because I am lucky enough to have a roof while many don't even have one. CNBC  did a research on 2016 that 42 million people go to sleep hungry according to Feeding America. To me it seems a incredible amount because with so many people flexing their Gucci and Jordans on social media it almost covers up the fact that poverty and hunger is real. My plan for this Thanksgiving is to go to the Vets Hall in  313 W. TUNNELL ST, on Monday at 2 pm to go help out. I encourage whoever reads this will go and do  their share.
After all we all are human and fortunate to have food lets help those who need it. We don't know their back story so lets
not forget they all have one. Hope to see some of you there.

Another Shooting Yet No Action

Another Shooting Yet No Action
First thing first sorry about the post not being up till today but some things happened this week. Anyways last Thursday November 14 in Saugus High School in Santa Clarita gunshots where heard. Officers arrived at the scene at around 7:40 A.M. they saw 5 victims on the floor. 2 died in the scene 1 male and 1 female the perpetrator died on Friday from his own wound. 3 where only wounded in this hell of 16 seconds. For every 2.666 seconds 1 person was shoot. Yet guns are still legal you can usually obtain them after 3 days even if the background check is still not fully complete. According to the Washington Post at least 1,216 people have died of gun violence in the US history. The NRA spends about 30.3 million dollars on lawmakers or  in average at least in 2017. The cost of a human casualty in the US for gun violence is about $24,917.76 cents for every person killed in the US by guns. Its is predicted that it will increase which means that the NRA can afford the casualties. The question is can our morals afford the deaths. Yes we understand that the second amendment clearly allows US citizens to purchase a gun and be 18 years or older but we aren't on the times where we had to conceal a gun to protect ourselves we have our police and the biggest Army in the world. Yes, we could use our guns for self defense but why do we need assault rifles if with a glock you can shoot  about 3 bullets per second so in 1 minute you would have shot 180 bullets. Lets think of the future generations  do we really want to have our kids growing up in a unstable world full of possible school shootings? I personally get a little nervous walking into Walmart yes its got my favorite snacks but due to the last Walmart shooting for hate crime I don't feel as safe. Now there is even a bullet proof backpack for sale and its been around since the 1980's but lately they have been a product that have began to be  popular. After a school shooting in Florida in February 14 2018 the company named Bullet Blocker reported a increase in their sales by 30% the same Thursday of the shooting most shipments where headed to Florida. The dark truth is that unless we do something about the gun laws this news won't surprises us and we will have to start to wear a full armor suit to school because of our own fear. The Lorax once said,  "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better." So I for one says its enough.

Post 5

I think that the author is really trying to make other people realize that the world and that our individual thoughts where given to us for a reason. Many can argue that he was talking about people being free and be seen the same but what I think he means is that we have to free our selves from our own ignorant desire to fit in with the herd. He states "Let him not peep or steal, or skulk up and down with the air of a charity-boy a bastard or an interloper in the world that exist for him." Here he states 2 things we've read so far that instead of trying to look like we are good people lets actually be good and different from everyone else.

Post 2

Something important that I found in the reading was that the author doesn't seem to like the idea of people trying to gain a title or to be known for someone else ideas he believes that we all have to be us and not try to live under everyone's shadow.

Paragraph Post #4

In the paragraphs we read today from Self  Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson we understand that he personally thinks that its fine to have people question us because that is what makes us human. This can usually make us be more attentive and more contributing people towards our on society and generation. I can see his point of view because sometimes you gotta be the odd one to solve the problem or to discover something that will be great for the human race.

My First impression

I think that this essay is really good. It is relatable because it shows how sometimes being afraid to not being agreed with or others approving our own thinking. Sometimes this is what stops the greatest discoveries the fear of being neglected or looked at weird because we see and thinking a different way than others because the human response to what it doesn't understand or comprhend is to neglect it and look at it weird. We ourselves are our own barriers just like the author said.
