Life as a Student during Covid-19

I believe that life as a student is tough and difficult for various reasons. Some are time and resources these both impact more students than one might think. Most of us have to try to balance the time between work and school. I personally don't have a schedule to get home or when I start work.During May 17 through May 23 I was out of town to work in the tomato picking since due to  covid-19 no one wanted to work in the fields in Indio Ca. I worked with people from  different parts of California and some from different states. I started work at 4 A.M- 12 P.M  under 110 heat. Work goes hand in hand with stability but when a pandemic hits its harder to maintain both and as a student you have to do the best you can to help your family. Sustainability is not something during these times. For those reasons stated I believe being a student during these times is the most difficult.

Closing The Great Gatsby

I think Gatsby could be labeled as great. Throughout the book we can see that he did his best to get back to Daisy. He was determined to get her back no matter what it took. He did thinks that he thought and knew would impress Daisy because he was so devoted to her. There is no real prove that he wasn't great.

The Great Gatsby Chapter 2

-Tom seems to be proud that he is cheating on Daisy with  Mirtle. I infer this because of the way he tells Nick "We're getting off!' he insisted."I want you to meet my girl."
-Tom once again seems to try to state that he is superior than everyone else because he asks Wilson how business is doing while clearly it looks like it isn't going well.
-We can see how much Tom thinks he is superior when he is asked by Dr.Eckleburg asks if Wilson suspects anything from Tom and his wife and Tom responds that "He's so dumb he doesn't know he is alive."
-Mrs.Wislon feels like she is more than everyone else because she is with Tom and because she has things.

From everything I have read I can infer that Tom likes to surround himself around people who like to think they are superior than everyone else.

CUE THEME MUSIC

I think that the theme of "The Great Gatsby"  is to not let your memories kill you. I heard this from someone who was around when they had stabbed my friend. At that time I didn't know what it meant but after a couple of struggles and years you learn that if you let those things take control of your life it will end up killing you.

The Great Gatsby Chapter 1

The narrator seems to be very close but far with his father according to the first page.
He seems to keep his self and thoughts to himself and not to judge too harsh others.
His family seems to be surprised that he wants to find his own path.
The war seems to have shaped him into a man who wants to find his own path.
He seems satisfied with what is been given when he describes that he thinks its good where he lives surrounded by rich people for only $80 a month.
Unlike his cousin Daisy and her husband who seem to only care about their social status when he states "they lived wherever rich people lived together and played polo together."
When Tom says," I've got a nice place here.." we can see  that he has a high self steam or superiority.

From this first chapter I can infer that Nick's family is pretty greedy and believe that everything just surround them.

Gatsby Chapter 8

1. Gatsby says that nothing happened and that Daisy didn't go to bed till 4 A.M.

2.  Nick tells Gatsby that he should run away and leave because they would track the car and blame him for it. Gatsby argues that he shouldn't leave now that he had made it so far.

3. Gatsby said that Daisy couldn't wait for him because she wanted something and someone she could physically feel. She wanted someone at that time that's why she married Tom. He also tries to deny the fact that maybe Daisy did love Tom.

4. The gardener said that he would  empty the pool so the leaves wouldn't clog the pipes. I think that F. Scott tried to help us foreshadow that something because Gatsby told him to not  do it today. Then he tells Nick that Gatsby hasn't been inside the pool all summer. When Gatsby says he wants to swim one last time is almost intended to make it sound like his last wish before he dies.

5. Fitzgerald resembles to Shakespear by having the character foreshadow things. It also shows that George himself is rushing into a action that will harm him and somebody else just the way some characters in Romeo and Juliet do.

Plato's 2 Chariotees Free Will

In my article it talks about free will really ins't really free. From my perspective that's what I understood from my reading. "I’m no more free to make that choice than I am to make any other choice.”  To me this sounds like the other agrees with the idea that there is no such thing as free will because things will always affect our choices. In conclusion there was never a things such as free will of choice.

MLK's Speech

Ethos- Personal credibility
Pathos-Emotional connection
Logos- Logic

Martin Luther King Speech
- He makes his speech sound well prepared.
- Tends to make the "Negros" (as he states ) lives stand out and shows the discrimination and retaliation that they have faced.
- Uses metaphors  like a sea of poverty its not a real see but it can explain what he meant.
- He has credible sources such as the United States Constitution.
- In a way he tries to make people and politicians feel guilt about the promise they made when they singed the declaration independence.
- He refers to justice and equality as if it was some divine power.
- He sounds like Ghandi that believed that no violence could bring peace and he is sure to include that in his speech.
- References  a lot to progress and a better future.
- He demonizes the Jim Crow laws and tries to have the audience think bad of them by using kids as possible victims to this un-justice.
- "Can and will change"- he tries to have people look forward to something with determination.
He makes a pause after every important sentences and lets the words sink in
